Mera Peak is one of the most scenic peaks with mighty Mt. Everest in the background. It offers a breathtaking view of tallest mountains in the world like Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho-Oyu. Mera Peak climbing is physically demanding owing to its high altitude but it is not technically unsafe as the ascent seldom exceeds 40 degrees. Anyone with excellent physical fitness can be a part of this outstanding climbing experience.

Day 01: Arrived to Kathmandu

Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, Nepal Intrepid Treks will be your trustworthy travel companion until you depart for your home country. We will accommodate our valued customers in three star hotels in Kathmandu. We take care of the room and breakfast of our valued customers during their stay in Kathmandu Valley.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley and prepare for Climbing 

In Kathmandu Valley our customers to the landmark sight of Kathmandu. Our experienced guide will take you to Kathmandu Durbar Square which holds the political and historical values in Nepalese civilization. Apart from Kathmandu Durbar Square, we take our customers to Swayambhu Nath Temple (Monkey Temple) which is the symbol of Harmony between Buddhists and Hindus from the very place we can get the splendid view of Kathmandu Valley and its outskirts. Furthermore, we take you to Pashupatinath Temple which is the holy place for hindu devotees and the holy cremation area which might interest you.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2804m) and trek to Chutok (2800m) Duration: 3 hrs

We head to the airport early in the morning and take a flight to Lukla. The air route is fascinating in itself, flying above the greenery and White Mountains. Upon arrival, the guide will brief you and introduce our porters. We then begin our trek to the Chutok La pass (2945).

Day 04: Trek to Zatrabok (4600m) via Zatrawala Pass (4704m) Duration: 6 hrs

Today, we trek from Chutenga and ascend steep to cross Zatrawala Pass (4610m.) and continue to Zatrabok (4704m) enjoying the spectacular views of Numbur Himal, Kongdi RI, Karyolang peak and many others.

Day 05: Trek to Kothe (3600m) Duration: 5 hrs

Today we head towards Kothe. We take a steep descent trail through the juniper and rhododendron forest to reach Kothe.

Day 06: Trek to Tangnang (4356m) Duration:5 hrs

After enjoying our lunch at Kothe, we head towards Tangnang (4356m),(Sabal Tsho-Lake) penetrating the Hinku valley. The trial gradually ascends offering the scenic view of Kusum Kanguru. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 07: Acclimatization Today is set aside for acclimatization

We rest at Tangnang. We wander around the valley and explore the local culture. We enjoy the scenic view of stunning peaks and glaciers.

Day 08: Trek to Khare (5045m) Duration: 4 hrs

We climb up along the lateral moraine of the glacier. It provides an interesting view of Mera Peak.

Day 09: Acclimatization day at Khare

We take rest at Khare. This is another day set aside for acclimatization. We prepare ourselves for climbing Mera peak.

Day 10: Trek to Mera La (5415m) and Base Camp (5300m) Duration: 5 hrs

We progress along the snowy glacier and approach the pass.

Day 11: Trek to High Camp (5800m) Duration: 5 hrs

Today we continue to the high camp. We will be blessed with the stunning panoramas of giant mountains rising above 7000m i.e. Chamlang (7290m), Makalu (8475m) and Baruntse (7220m) to the east, Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8501m) and Nuptse to the north and Ama Dablam, Cho Oyo (8153meters) and Kantega to the west.

Day 12: Mera High camp to Mera Peak Summit (6654m), return and trek to Khare (4900m) Duration:10 hrs

Today, the whole crew wakes up at around 1 a.m. for preparation. The climbers too have to wake up around 2.30 am. We have our breakfast and put on crampons and rope. Then we embark our journey to the summit. It takes around 4-6 hours to reach the summit of Mera. From the summit, we can see the spectacular views of Mt. Everest (8,848m), Cho-Oyu (8,210m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m), Kanchenjunga (8,586m) Nuptse (7,855m), Chamlang (7,319m), Baruntse (7 ,129m) Ama Dablam (6,812m) Kangtega (6,779m) and many more. We then retrace our steps down to high camp. After a rest accompanied by some hot soups/tea, we continue down to Khare for the night.

Day 13: Reserve day for Contingency

We cannot guarantee if the weather remains favorable on our planned day for the summit (day 12). So, this day is used just in case if we will be unable to summit the Mera Peak on day 12 due to bad weather or other reasons. We should wisely postpone our program of scaling the peak if the weather gets unfavorable. Sometimes you or your group members may get some problems in acclimatizing. This day may be used in case. If the trip goes smoothly, we do not need this spare day.

Day 14: Trek to Khothey (3600m) Duration: hrs

We leave the mountains behind and descend to Tangnang. We continue towards Khothey.

Day 15: Trek to Zatrabok 

The trial offers magnificent view of alpine vegetation like huge rhododendron forest.

Day 16: Trek to Chutenga

The trail ascends until we reach Zatrawala Pass and then again descends until we reach Chutenga.

Day 17: Trek to Lukla Today

we walk downhill all the way to Lukla. We pass the forests of fir, rhododendron, oak, juniper and local vegetation enjoying the views of Numbur Himal, Kongdi RI, Karyolang peak, etc.

Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu

We head back to Kathmandu and as earlier the accommodation will be provided along with the breakfast in a three star hotel in Kathmandu. On spare day you can roam around Thamel or other major touristic areas at Kathmandu and do some shopping.

Day 19: Leisure day in Kathmandu

This day is for you to roam around the Kathmandu. You can indulge yourself in shopping around Thamel or moving around. You can also visit our trekking office for the further future trip details.

Day 20: Farewell
